In this section, we will learn the basic safety requirements for all team members within the lab and meeting spaces. We will learn about policies and procedures for evacuations and medical emergencies, as well as lab policies and required uses of personal protective equipment.

Assessment
At the end of each unit, participants should complete the “check-in” quiz, which serves as a self-assessment so that you can check your own understanding before moving on. The scores from check-ins bear no weight.
At the end of all General Safety units, participants must complete the General Safety Exam with a proficiency of 80% or higher. If a participant does not achieve an 80%, he or she should review course content and attempt the exam again.

Pages marked with the “extra” tag are not required to be viewed. They do however go further in-depth and can help to study for the exam.
In the case that a piece of a lesson has both articles and videos, only one is required to be viewed. Once again, however, viewing both will dramatically help pass the exam and prompt safe use of the equipment.
