One of the projects that we are completing under our Equity and Diversity Plan is the creation of a comprehensive online orientation for members who are new to the team. Our previous orientations to the team have traditionally happened at the beginning of the season and in-person, but members who have joined later, or during a pandemic, may not get the same experience which affects member retention. In order to do something about this, we have been making great progress throughout the season to get an orientation ready for next year. During the off season we split our orientation into different sections, and decided how to best present the information within each section. Some sections of our orientation will be text based, while some will be videos created by our video editors on the team. We have finished the text section of the orientation, and are halfway through editing the videos.
