On November 23rd, the First Tech Challenge SouthCentral League Championship was held at Dimond High School. There was a really great turnout on the amount of teams from around Southcentral Alaska. Our FRC team was heavily represented at the event in both volunteering and participating. Many of our team members are also on FTC teams–we had teammates spread out through four different teams. We also took on some volunteer roles, as a team (members and mentors), helping reset the fields, run score sheets, perform robot inspections, and hosting at Dimond (where Coach Roach teaches and many of our members attend school).
The event brought teams from across SouthCentral Alaska, spread out from Kodiak to Fairbanks, and everywhere in between. The competition was a huge success! Dimond’s MechaLynx captained the winning alliance formed with team 3825 NovaLynx. And the JABOTs took home the Inspire Award. Eight teams qualified for the Alaska State Competition which takes place on February 8, 2020 at Colony High School. We are proud of our FRC teammates whose FTC teams performed so well at the championship, and wish them luck at State!
The next qualifier is at Wasilla High School in December, where another eight teams will compete to qualify for the Alaska State Championship. Congratulations to the eight teams advancing to the State Championships in February! 5223, 12651, 3208, 3825, 4951,15947,16880, 16970.
